Honestly I would have preferred they called them Balts so this civ could also include Old Prussians and Latvians. Lithuanians - Grand Duchy of Lithuania became 'grand' a bit later on as the Mongol successor states declined and Lithuanians took overlordship over the former Kievan Rus. So the closest thing to give them any sort of representation are the Avars who lived in northeastern Caucasus. Huns - Obviously they were long gone at the time of this map. Principality of Theodoro survived until 1475 when it was conquered by the Ottomans. Regarding the English posessions in France - Phillip II reconquered most of them at around this time, with the exception of Gascony (SW France) which remained in English hands until 1453.

In the 1200s it still existed on paper as there was a title of the King of Burgundy, held by the Holy Roman Emperors, and the Duchy of Burgundy was a French vassal.įranks - Also representing the Crusader States in the Holy Land, as most crusaders were French. In the 900s, the Kingdoms of Burdundy and Provence united but were later absorbed by France and the HRE. We can debate whether or not they should be, but there is a historical connection even if they would not have had much in common with one another by that time.īurgundians - I am aware that in the game they also 'kind of' represent the Dutch and Flemish but Burgundy did not gain the Low Countries until about a century later. Like before, I used a snapshot of around 1200 AD (eve of the Mongol invasion and the Fourth Crusade), the reason for that is so there is no overlap between territories which would make the map hard to read. So I created an updated version of the map from few years ago to include the new civs that have been added and the announced upcoming civs and made a few adjustments based on the feedback I received.
